Who Knew Marilyn Monroe and Ella Fitzgerald were Besties?

Such a wonderful true story of an incredible friendship of two talented women.

I read the most wonderful picture book entitled Making Their Voices Heard written by Vivian Kirkfield and illustrated by Alleanna Harris. It ‘s a perfect book for this time in history where diversity and inclusion are becoming bad words in the United States. If I were still teaching fifth grade , I would read this book aloud to my students to foster a discussion about racisim and sexism.

The book is charming. I had no idea Marilyn and Ella knew each other. They were both integral to each other’s careers and remained dear friends. “This is the inspiring true story of two incredibly talented women who came together to help one another shine like the stars they’d forever be known as.”

I really recommend this book! It’s inspiring. Right now our girls need role models. These two ladies saw what they had in common; their differences were superficial. If anyone else has read this , please comment below.
