Change the World One Letter at a Time with Lisa Frenkel Riddiough

Z's the moment. Read this inspirational alphabet book!

Parents and educators love alphabet books since we use them to teach our children..well…the letters of the alphabet in order for them to learn to read. Letters to Live By-An Alphabet Book with Intention written by Lisa Frenkel Riddiough and illustrated by Asa Gilland not only teaches the letters of the alphabet but connects each letter to a positive action. Gilland’s illustrations include multiple cultures which compliment Riddiough’s sweet but powerful statements. How wonderful to not only teach the alphabet to enable reading but to share attributes to encourage living each day with kindness, compassion, and mindfulness.

This book is a far cry from didactic. Instead ,it inspires children to “have heroes” and to “untangle untruths.” One of my favorite pages is “Z’s the day.” Each page fills my heart with smiles and hope for our future generations. It is difficult not to quote this talented author who says so much with so few words. (BTW, I have had the privilege to have her mentor a critique group for me at the Big Sur Workshop. She practices what is in this book and spreads much light and love in our world.)

I will leave you with a quote because frankly, I am not sure I could say it better than Lisa.

“We each have the power to make our world a better, happier place. We all have the alphabet to guide us. Which letters will you live by?”
