Dog Heaven: A Picture Book for All Dog Lovers
As I was browsing the picture book section at Barnes and Noble, this book caught my eye: Dog Heaven by Cynthia Rylant. Since I believe dogs are angels put upon this Earth to help us become better humans and because I really admire Cynthia Rylant as an author, I had to check it out. Cynthia captured heaven beautifully from a dog’s point of view from the lakes and fields for running and swimming to the infinite supply of dog biscuits in kittycat, squirrel, and ice-cream shapes.
My favorite spread is about the dogs that never had a home on Earth. In Heaven they have special bowls with their names on them and are petted endlessly by angels who remind them how good they are.
This is one of those books that I want to share the entire book with you, but I also want you to buy this book.
My vision of Heaven is seeing all my beloved animals waiting to greet me. Each of them has a place in my heart as I am grateful for the time we shared. My feelings of God are universal instead of secular. I believe all humans who loved their animals are given the chance to reconnect. I certainly hope God allows all of us animal lovers to hold our fur babies once again.
Until then, I will hug and kiss my Goldens, telling them everyday how deeply they are loved. I think I will read Dog Heaven to them. Dogs understand more than we know.
