Goat Maa-th-An Addition Story is Maa-velous!

Baa-lieve me! Read this book!

I love being an early reader for Gnome Road Publishing. They have some good ones, let me tell you. Be sure to look for Goat Maa-th An Addition Story written by Kari Ann Gonzalez and illustrated by Bonnie Kelso this Fall 2026. Each page is equally engaging-a real hoot. The book ends with different addition activities a parent with child or a teacher and class could try. If I were teaching in the early primary grades, I would absolutely use this book. Kids would LOVE it!

This delightful book has a hiking instructor taking a group of ten goats on a trek where they do all sorts of counting in punny situations. My favorite part is where they have to cross a rickety wooden bridge divided into a number line with cute signs like “the first step is always the hardest” and “I baa-lieve in you.” Underneath the bridge is a furry troll with its baby. It’s obvious these cuties wouldn’t eat goats, unlike the troll in The Billy Goats Gruff ,yet when all goats cross to the other side, only one goat and the hiking instructor are counted. What happened to the other nine? I guess you’ ll have to read the book to find out!
